Capitalism in the Cafeteria
Tuesday, January 28th, 7:00pm until 9:00pm
Coop la Maison verte, 5785 rue Sherbrooke ouest
How do large institutions influence our food systems?
Have you ever eaten at a large, public institution? Have you ever felt underwhelmed by the food and/or overwhelmed by the price? Recognizing that today, most publicly-funded institutions outsource their food services to profit-driven third parties, this public conversation seeks to explore alternative models. Is the capitalist way of commodifying food the only option? When it comes to publicly funded institutions like universities, hospitals, and museums, which are expected to serve the public good and where a hungry and captive audience is all but guaranteed, the decision to prioritize profit over nutrition seems questionable. Should food be seen as a way to improve an institution’s economic bottom line? What impact does this approach have on the core mission of these institutions, not to mention the health and productivity of the people they serve? How do the food-sourcing decisions made by these large institutions influence not only the end-users, but the producers, the environment and the food system as a whole? Most significantly, by not experimenting with alternative models in these unique environments, what opportunities are we missing?

The premise is easy; you come, you drop your pants, you dance in your underwear, kiss a few cuties, then dance some more. If you're lucky you won't be going home alone. And for that there will be a safer sex/harm reduction booth on site with a bunch of condoms, gloves, and many other goodies.
In addition, Glam Gam Productions will be joining us to fire up the pantless party goers with their unique and sexy, critically acclaimed burlesque.
There will also be a KISSING COMPETITION surprise kissers, spin the bottle and other makeout games.
We are super excited to have our resident DJ Like the Wolf and guests playing the best mix tapes one could throw down to keep your bodies nice and sweaty on the dance floor.
