Conférence de Presse deCoVo (Coalition Vigilance Oléoduc)
Tuesday, May 14th, 10:30am
Maison du développement durable, 50, rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest

CoVO (Coalition Vigilance Oléoduc) is organizing a press conference to demand a BAPE (public consultation) in regards to the reversal of tar sands flow in the Enbridge Line 9B pipeline. The government needs to know that people are both concerned and directly affected by the arrival of tar sands through the pipeline, and must recognize our voices in this process.
The tar sands are one of the most environmentally destructive projects on the planet, and the risk of spills in the old and weathered Line 9B pipeline threatens the health and surroundings of communities along it. The National Energy Board hearings have been undemocratic, including a very small percentage of affected citizens and giving limited consideration to the risk of climate change and spills faced by the community. The people demand an independent and legitimate voice in the project's decision.
For the environment, for democracy, and for our community, CoVO demands a BAPE on the Enbridge Line 9B hearings!

Conundrum & Koyama Press Team Up!
Tuesday, May 14th, 7:00pm
Librairie Drawn & Quarterly, 211 Bernard Ouest

Join us for the launch of two graphic novels by two artists showcased in English for the first time.
The Library is the first work in English by the active Hong Kong artist Chihoi. Reading the short stories included in this hardcover volume is like reading someone else’s dreams. They they speak to regular hurt and deprivation, strength in silence and loneliness in numbers. The Library is book of beautiful pencil lines, written to illustrate the tales we know in our heart but have never witnessed.
Journal is the first English translation of Montreal-based artist Julie Delporte’s autobiographical diary comics. Initially appearing online in French, Journal displays Delporte’s organic and immediate drawings that utilize an uncanny sense of colour and composition to illustrate their intimate, diarist narratives. Cataloguing an emotional breakup, an artist’s residency at The Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont, and the anxieties and joys of everyday life between February 2011 and October 2012, Delporte’s elegant illuminated diary is a private life made public and poetic.
