Veganic Forest Gardening-Permaculture-Weekend Workshop
Friday, May 10 -12th
Saint Cyprien de Napierville
http://www.thelivingcentre.com/cms/forest-gardening-quebec
An experiential learning experience will reveal the nature of ecosystem architecture, social structure, and our interconnectedness.
Forest Gardening and Deep Ecology is a practice, yet it also represents a radically new way of seeing our landscapes and our world. Seeing nature as a model of wellness; we can grow a diverse range of plants together in mutually beneficial groupings that are primarily self-maintaining.
Forest Gardening is the art and science of growing plants in patterns that support mutually beneficial relationships, which create a garden that takes its vision from nature and the natural ecology of a young forest. We can grow fruits, vegetable, herbs, medicinal plants and other useful plants. By mincing the way nature creates healthy eco-systems we can create beautiful, high-yield, diverse gardens that are largely self-maintaining. Forest Gardening offers design systems that support a diversity of landscapes from rural to dense urban settings. This particular training is focused on how to create your garden in a temperate zone.
Forest Gardening allows us to achieve the same benefits that natural systems demonstrate: stability, resilience, self-maintenance, self-renewal, and increased nutrient conservation at personal and ecological levels.
Bring your tents and sleeping bags and stay for the whole weekend in this very comfortable and idyllic setting.Vegan meals prepared by a professional vegan chef are included in the price for the whole weekend.
Fee: $350. plus taxes. Bring a friend-get $50 off

DECOLONIZE! An anti-colonial teach-in
Saturday May 11th, 10am-5pm
7th floor of the Hall Building, 1455 de Maisonneuve Ouest
Join us for a full day of introductory and in-depth workshops about anti-colonialism and resistance.
free. welcome to all. wheelchair accessible.childcare available on-site.
SCHEDULE OF WORKSHOPS:
10am: The P.Q., colonialism, and current social movements in Quebec (room H-763 -- FR/EN)
1pm: Unsettling and Decolonizing: An Introductory Workshop (room H-763 – EN)
1pm: Our solidarity: A Territory to Decolonize (room H-762 – FR)
3pm: Industrial Development in Nitassinan: A History of Dispossession of the Innu (room H-763 – FR)
3pm: “Our Terrain of Struggle": Migration, Borders and Global Apartheid (room H-762 – EN/ES)
In the last several months we've seen a resurgence of grassroots struggle for Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination. Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island have always resisted colonization, from the beginnings of European settler invasion, through over 200 years of land theft and genocide that the nation of Canada was built upon. This resistance has been echoed by Indigenous peoples throughout the world, who face displacement at the hands of Canadian corporations and the neo-colonial governments that serve them.
This series of workshops has been organized so that our movements can actively support and participate in decolonization struggles. At present, these workshops are organized by predominantly non-native anti-colonial groups and individuals.

Rencontre JAM (Justice Alimentaire Montréal)
Sunday, May 12, 1:30pm
Coop sur Généreux, 4518 Papineau, coin Mont-Royal dans la ruelle Généreux.
Hello to y’all,
We are calling to all those who are interested by agro-food justice to develop alternative to the current industrio-capitalist system in which we find ourselves.
We are currently, with the help of several proactive actors (students, professors and community members), co-initiating an platform to bridge communities and universities around food justice in and around Montreal. The underlying idea is to channel the interests of participants towards two intertwined sectors: community activism and socially applied research. This platform will allow active societal members to explore existing initiatives and potential linkages, channel our individual interests and push for a movement around a healthy, nutritious, participative and ecologically resilient agro-food system.
The objectives of this gathering is to present the project of JAM, Justice Alimentaire pour Montreal, to the network of the Coop, to enable people to participate within their own interests and degree of engagement, and open a space to present your own food projects. Thus, we will have the opportunity to create new linkages between our initiatives and gain more visibility at the level of Montreal.
This project is not only welcomed, but strongly supported by the Coop sur Généreux, because we see it as an opportunity to create a bridge connecting our initiatives and our network to be stronger. This is why we invite you not only to hear about the JAM, but to share and explain your own projects around food justice, (that take place at the Coop or not.)
