Sylvie + Devo = drawing on walls
Thursday, January 3rd
Cafe Shaika, 5526 Sherbrooke Rue O
Some of Sylvie le Sylvie's woodcut prints and paintings are up right now at Shaika Cafe. It'll be up until sometime in January. Devo also put a bunch of ridiculous bullshit up. Art Cards made from Vancouver TransLink passes that she's been hoarding since 2005.
Sylvie works painstakingly at a few gorgeous things. Devo will throw just about anything on a wall and let other people decide what's good. Our styles couldn't be more different. But we're from the same hometown and have been drawing together for 10+ years. It's perfect that the exhibit is at a cafe, since a mainstay of our relationship has been coffee/drawing parties at various greasy spoons and kitchen tables.
There's no verni. We're both too busy. Plus, Shaika has no booze anymore. So go check it out with a friend (Shaika has Santropol coffee and a killer vegan wrap.) Then go get a tallcan from the Dep and hang out in one of those awesome NDG alleys. In true Sylvie/Devo fashion.
Sylvie has prints for sale at the counter; and you should just steal one of Devo's little cards off the wall. They're there for the taking.

The team at Moksha Yoga has once again agreed to donate the proceeds from their by-donation Friday yoga classes. During the month of January, drop in to the karma classes each Friday at 7:30 pm, 8:30 pm, and 9:30 pm and feel doubly good by caring for yourself and caring for the Roulant.
There’s a minimum donation of $5 per class and regular passes are not accepted. These classes are so popular that Moksha suggests you arrive 30 to 60 minutes in advance to write your name down for the class.
